Grub, drink and hang at this San Diego Zoo party


Get up close and personal with the animals of the San Diego Zoo while tasting the best in local food, wine and beer at the Food, Wine & Brew celebration on Saturday, Sept. 24.

The wildlife event will provide attendees a special evening of mingling with animals, dancing to live music and enjoying tastes and sips from over 150 vendors on-site. The Zoo party will feature food from a variety of local restaurants and eateries including Bitchin’ Sauce, Duck Dive, Pacific Beach Alehouse, NOBU, Rolled Up, Sea180 Coastal Tavern, San Diego Taco Company, Rustic Root, Jake’s Del Mar, Babycakes, Dick’s Last Resort, Casa de Pico and many more.

While you munch on these awesome foods, don’t forget, there’s plenty of wine and beer to go around. This year’s drink participants offer something for everyone. Beer lovers can sip on selections like Second Chance Beer Co., Stone Brewing Co., Mike Hess Brewing Co., Ballast Point Brewing, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Intergalactic Brewing Company and Kilowatt Brewing. Winos and those who like fine liquor can look forward to samples of Los Javis mezcal, Monte Xanic Wines, Niven Family Wines, Oak Ridge Winery, The Infinite Monkey Therom urban winery and Tom Gore Vineyards, to name a few.

Beyond the indulgences, event-goers can tap their toes to some live music from Bayou Brothers, Misdirection, Sensation Show Ban, The Counterfeits, Josh Ferreira, DJ Debra Gore and Novocaine.

There will be serveral opportunities to see exotic animals up-close and personal, at various locations around the park. In between sessions, head to the Critter Casino to win big, enter the “Pick Your Prize” drawing, play games from Dave & Buster’s, take a Skyfari ride or hang out in the glow zone. Tickets are $125 for general admission which offers you sips and tastes from the various vendors, live music and access to all events at the party.
