Comic-Con: 5 ways to survive a zombie outbreak
What happens after you’re trapped in a room full of survivors and tasked with eluding zombies while finding the box containing a secret key to escape? Sheer paranoia! Here’s how I survived the “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” Zombies Escape Room Challenge, located at 450 Second Ave. in downtown San Diego. It’s free, and you don’t need a badge. But you do need to be 18 years old and over. The challenge continues today from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 8 p.m.
1 Stay in groups
You are far more likely to get picked off one-by-one if you venture off alone. But this should be common knowledge for every zombie fan, right? Stay together, and if you’re charged with a task, use the buddy system.
2 Work together
Nothing’s worse than a negative-Nancy when the undead are clawing at your clothes (literally). Stay positive and come up with a strategy to get out of the death trap predicament you got yourself into (willingly?)!
3 Assign roles
You’ve already been thrown into chaos. Why make it worse? The best way to combat your predicament is to give people different tasks. Have someone fight off the zombies while someone else is looking for the key.
4 Think outside the box (no pun intended)
There’s no way you’re going to find the key if you panic or go looking in obvious places. Get creative. We were able to find the combination to the key box by looking twice at a song sheet with the code written in music. You never know what you may find in the most random places!
5 Remain calm
Fear is contagious. Stay calm and think critically. If you have a panic attack, everyone else will!
