Moxie Theatre looks at the big business of getting chill in San Diego premiere of ‘Yoga Play’

What is the price of enlightenment? It could be a pretty penny — depending on how decked out you want to be for your next yoga class.

The Indian-born playwright Dipika Guha’s “Yoga Play,” which is about to receive its local premiere at the women-centered Moxie Theatre, takes a comic look at a scandal unfolding at a company that sells pricey athletic apparel. (Any resemblance to real-life events is not necessarily accidental.)

In her Moxie directing debut, Callie Prendiville stages the piece with a cast headed by Jo Anne Glover — a Moxie co-founder and real-life yoga teacher who plays a newly hired CEO struggling to save the company.

Sri Chilukuri, Albert Park, Tamara Rodriguez and Matthew Salazar-Thompson also appear in “Yoga Play,” the final production in Moxie’s 2018-19 season.
