'Jersey Boy' John Lloyd Young heading to Hillcrest for one-night gig at Martinis Above Fourth

John Lloyd Young may not have been in the original production of “Jersey Boys” that launched at La Jolla Playhouse in 2004 — the lead role of Frankie Valli was played by David Noroña in that world-premiere staging.

But the singer-actor came to own the part of Four Seasons leader Valli on Broadway, winning a Tony Award under former Playhouse artistic chief Des McAnuff’s direction for his turn in the show about the Seasons’ rise and fall.

Now, Young hits Hillcrest’s cozy Martinis Above Fourth next week to perform songs by the Seasons and much more.

If you’ve seen the 2014 “Jersey Boys” movie — in which Young reprised the role of Valli — you know his work (and have heard his impressive falsetto). But this could be the last chance to see him live on a local stage for a while.
