Quick tip: La Jolla Playhouse’s latest POP Tour show focuses on military families
The latest show in La Jolla Playhouse’s POP Tour program — which commissions a new, youth-minded stage piece to visit local schools each year — is made up of scenes and stories about kids in military families.
Lee Cataluna’s “Home of the Brave” (a co-commission with Honolulu Theatre for Youth) was inspired by interviews with military children in San Diego and Hawaii.
Each of its school performances is introduced by a Playhouse teaching artist; the work also will land back at the La Jolla theater for public performances in March.
The familiy-minded show is described as ideal for students in grades 3 to 6.
