Always say “yes, and ...” That's the first rule of improvisation, an innovative theatrical technique free from any predetermined outcome. With improv, the plot, characters and dialogue are made up in the moment. The sixth annual San Diego Improv Festival will feature two stages with performances by dozens of diverse improv teams from across the nation who have mastered the ability to work together responsively, spontaneously. Festival extras include workshops, rooftop parties and an onsite bar. With jams every night, maybe you’ll jump on stage and give it a go. Start with a “yes,” and see where that takes you.
San Diego Improv Festival: Tonight through Sunday. Tenth Avenue Arts Center, 930 10th Ave., downtown. Single show admission costs $15; the VIP pass buys reserved seating at all shows, all nights for $95. finestcityimprov.com/sdif
