A decade ago last May, San Diego Musical Theatre launched with a production of “The Full Monty,” the movie-based musical about steelworkers who moonlight as amateur strippers.

The company has come a long way since then — establishing itself as a premier local producer of full-scale, stylishly staged musicals.

And now SDMT comes full circle, revisiting the show it all began with.

Neil Dale directs the new production of the musical, which earned 10 Tony Award nominations in its Broadway run.

It’s a show, by the way, with a strong local connection: “The Full Monty” had its world premiere at the Old Globe here in 2000.
