‘Orange Is the New Black’ author heads to SD
Local community organization Second Chance and Piper Kerman, memoir writer and author of “Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison,” are joining forces to raise awareness around the status of the current prison system. Second Chance programs help those in sober living housing, disadvantaged youth and others. This educational keynote and Q & A, lead by Kerman, will be followed by an original play based on true events of Second Chance program graduates. Attendees will have access to purchase autographed copies of Kerman’s memoir and enjoy a live musical performance by Sharon Hendrix and Carol Dennis-Dylan.
