As Pride Festival finishes picking up the last of the confetti off the grounds of Hillcrest, we don’t have to wait much longer for the next big celebration. The 31st annual CityFest returns on Sunday, August 9 from noon to 11 p.m., expecting over 150,000 attendees at this free event.
Each year, CityFest commemorates the relighting of the neon pink Hillcrest sign. The neighborhood beacon is illuminated during a lighting ceremony, allowing San Diegans to relive the excitement of seeing the iconic landmark come to life.
CityFest has grown into a fun celebration of both history and community spirit. This year’s event will feature over 250 artisans and crafters, an international food court, live music, a waterslide, kid’s zone, a beer garden and four artist alleys. Guests can also stay late to party with CityFest Night under the neon Hillcrest sign.
