Check out 40 museums for half-price in February
February may seem over-populated with thoughts of that one lovey-dovey, Hallmark holiday, but let’s be real. The best part of February here in San Diego is Museum Month.
From Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, the special deal offering half-off admission to 40 museums, sponsored by Macy’s, will be in full-effect throughout San Diego including at the Reuben H. Fleet, Birch Aquarium, Cabrillo National Monument, San Diego Natural History Museum, Oceanside Museum of Art.
Free passes are available to pick up at one of the 14 Macy’s stores in San Diego, Temecula and Imperial Valley. One pass will validate four half-price admissions to any of the participating museums. You can only visit each museum one time per pass.
The month-long pass offers a chance for museum-goers to visit a multitude of diverse museums they may not typically visit while taking advantage of the awesome savings.
If you’re looking to see something different: Stop by the Flying Leathernecks Aviation Museum in Miramar, which features original U.S. Marine artifacts and unique aircrafts. If you’re into the arts, the Oceanside Museum of Arts is a must. They feature all types of art and will spotlight three different exhibitions to check out during the month of February, including “Street Art Reinterpreted” by Bill Rastetter. The Living Coast Discovery Center boasts a VIP animal encounters at it’s San Diego Bay location, including close-ups with green sea turtles, jellyfish and more.
Bonus: 2016 is a leap year, which means you have one extra day in February for Museum-exploring!
