Art Night celebrates 10 years at BASIC
Art Night is a community event in East Village that has helped give artists from San Diego a consistent place to showcase their work, allowing the art scene to flourish over the past decade. This year mark’s the 10-year anniversary of Art Night at BASIC, so naturally, it’s time to celebrate with a massive, art-filled party. The Big Art Night will take over BASIC on Tuesday, Feb. 23 from 12 p.m. to 12 a.m.
The evening will feature various live art showcases and performances, musical guests and happy hour deals that cannot be beat. BASIC, known for its contributions to the art community and award-winning pizza, will have their kitchen open throughout the event. The celebration will begin with a live art session called “DRAFT” in collaboration with Thumbprint Gallery.
Happy hour will run from 3 until 8 p.m. and offer party-goers $3 draft beers, $5 wines and $4 well drinks, to the sound of live music. The Upstarts, a hip hop and jazz-rock fusion band will take the stage and segue into the main event: a stellar art show. The cohesive, live art collaboration will give attendees access exclusive pieces by Jorge Guitterrez, Nicholas McPherson and Eye Gato.
Special appearances are also on deck from Reese Hilburn of Tattoo Nightmares Miami, as well as an exclusive set by DJ Goose & Mavrk.
The Big Art Night is free to attend and donations will be accepted at the door to benefit A Reason to Survive (ARTS).
