It’s time to root, root, root for the home team, again - baseball season is upon us, and the East Village Association is helping San Diegans kick it off druing the 7th Annual East Village Opening Day Weekend Block Party. This year, the free, family-friendly Block Party is a two-day event, happening on Friday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and on Saturday, April 8 from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Whether or not you have tickets for the Padres’ games against the San Francisco Giants that weekend, all baseball fans should plan a visit to J Street between 6th and 10th avenues. Just outside the ballpark, you’ll find the ultimate tailgating destination to celebrate Opening Day, headlined by top San Diego performers, Republic of Music.

Rock out to live entertainment, show off your skills in the interactive game zone and chow down on offerings from East Village restaurants and food trucks. And of course, no day at the ballpark would be complete without a beverage, so look for the micro-brew beer garden, featuring local craft beer and baseball-themed cocktails.

The Opening Day Weekend Block Party promises fun for all ages, including baseball-themed games for kids, jump houses, a rock wall and other hands-on activities designed to get kids of all ages pumped to show their team spirit.

Visit or for more information about the Block Party. All proceeds from block party sponsorships and exhibitors will benefit the non-profit East Village Association, Inc. whose mission is to support and promote East Village businesses by establishing the community as San Diego’s livable urban village.
