Carlsbad Village is getting a new neighborhood dining and drinking hub this winter. Park 101, an 8,000-square foot space on Carlsbad Boulevard that will house multiple food and drink concepts, is scheduled to open January 2017.
Park 101’s partners include Pete Cich, who’s also behind Duck Dive in Pacific Beach and Miss B’s Coconut Club in Mission Beach. “The concept is compelling and unprecedented in the area,” he said. “The food and drink will be unique, diverse and delicious.”
Park 101 will have park-themed décor in an open-concept space, with benches, greenery, trees and more. Inside, expect a modern look featuring murals, cedar planks and high ceilings. Park 101 is taking over a space that was formerly a pottery retailer, and one of the vendors, El Corral Deli & Dough, is named to pay homage to that. From an express window, El Corral will serve grab-and-go deli eats, hot sandwiches, coffee drinks, fresh juices, ice cream sandwiches and doughnuts. Behind the deli will be Park 101 Barbecue, with a meat-centric menu and counter-style service.
Upstairs, the Park 101 Tamarack View Deck will be a rooftop lounge with a beer and wine counter serving gourmet snacks while guests enjoy views of Carlsbad Village. In front, the Park 101 Garden Pub will be an indoor/outdoor beer and wine garden with up to 32 taps.
Carlsbad Village has been attracting a number of new dining and drinking options lately, from craft beer bars to urban wineries to a variety of new restaurants. Park 101 should fit right in and stand out at the same time with its diverse offerings and focus on community. “We hope to create a staple gathering and dining place for our community and visitors alike,” Cich said. “We are most eager to share our passion for family, food and beverage.”
Carlsbad residents should look forward to their planned grand tasting/opening party in February.
