Robbery at Oak Park bank is second at same branch within 3 months

Employees at a U.S. Bank branch in San Diego’s Oak Park neighborhood were robbed Friday for the second time in three months, police said.

The latest robbery at the bank on Federal Boulevard and Euclid Avenue was reported a little before 2:10 p.m. Friday, San Diego police Officer Robert Heims said.

The suspect walked into the business, demanded money from a teller and left with an undisclosed amount of cash, Heims said. He apparently did not use a demand note or weapon.

Police said the suspect wore a hat, sunglasses and dark clothing. He was last seen headed north.

Tellers at the same bank branch were robbed less than three months ago, on Oct. 17, when the suspect demanded cash without showing a note or flashing a weapon, Officer Steve Bourasa said at the time.

Though both the October robbery and Friday’s heist were pulled off in a similar manner, the descriptions given by police of the suspects’ race seemed to preclude the possibility that it was the same person.
