The hottest pool parties this summer

Long gone are the days when drinking on the beach was legally acceptable. Now, to get us through those long summer afternoons, we look to the chic hotel pools in San Diego for some casual sipping-while-splashing entertainment. This year, a slew of new pool parties are taking over the scene, replacing some of the void we've felt without the bass-thumping Intervention Sundays or raging roadtrips to Dive Dayclub. Scroll below to get all the deets on this summer's hottest pool parties.   1 - SUNBURN Saturdays at Hard Rock Hotel Hard Rock Hotel's Float rooftop has always been a local favorite when it comes to the perfect pool situation paired with plenty of room for mingling, dancing and drinking. Much to everyone's relief, nightclub promotion company Party Naked saw the opportunity to host a new series this year, dubbed SUNBURN Saturdays. The celebrations already started at the end of March, and continue every Saturday this summer from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guests can lounge among daybeds and cabanas, sip up cocktails from the bar and dance to the beats of a rotating lineup of DJs. -Jared Gase   207 Fifth Ave., downtown.   2 - Club Flamingo Opening Day - Sunday The newest addition to hit San Diego's bikini-clad crowds is Club Flamingo, a classy pool party going down on Sundays starting May 1. Club Flamingo will be shimmying into LOUNGEsix at the Hotel Solamar, a pristine pool with room for mingling and grooving. The stylish celebration will offer cosmopolitan cocktails and VIP cabanas, alongside mellow deep house and tropical house beats. LOUNGEsix at Hotel Solamar, 435 Sixth Ave., downtown. $15.   3 - RoofTop600's Summer Pool Party Series at Andaz San Diego Officially launching on Memorial Day Weekend, Sunday, May 29, the Andaz San Diego's Rooftop pool party series returns with DJs, private cabanas, panoramic city views and inflatable pool toys. These events are not weekly, but rather occur on the major holidays including Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends from 1 to 7 p.m. DJ Cherokee will get the party started Memorial Day Weekend spinning hypnotic beats. -Jared Gase 600 F St., downtown.   4 - 

French Riviera Soiree and Swim Club at The Westgate Hotel

Get glamorous at this new monthly pool soiree, scheduled for the second Saturday of every month starting June 11 and ending on Sept. 10. From 3 to 8 p.m., sophisticated guests are invited to celebrate in an upscale pool area with modern chaise lounges and VIP cabanas. DJ Aleko will play the laidback beats of summer while the Westgate's mixologist Irving Gonzalez will shake a selection of craft cocktails. Only 50 tickets will be sold for each event to create the ultimate intimate experience. 1055 Second Ave., downtown.   5 - 

Summer Splash Series at Harrah's Resort Southern California

As part of a new partnership with SoundDiego, the Summer Splash concert series will bring indie music acts to the massive pool. The series will take place every third Saturday of the summer from 9 to 11 p.m., May through August. The series kicks off with indie band The Boxer Rebellion on May 21. They'll also host Dive After Dark from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., every Friday and Saturday with cover bands performing poolside. 777 Harrah's Rincon Way, Valley Center.   6 - 

The Summer of Love at Lafayette Hotel

Lafayette Hotel in North Park is celebrating a summer of love with weekend pool parties from noon to 5 p.m. The schedule currently features Saturday and Sunday parties including Chugboat on May 21, Romantic Rock Bikini Fashion Show on May 22, Broken Stems on May 28 and The Bright Side on May 29. Pool parties are a $20 cover charge and full lineup is available on the website. 2333 El Cajon Blvd., North Park.
