Intro Over the last several years, traditional-style barbershops have seen a serious resurgence. No longer "just a fad", chop shops continue to pop up all over San Diego. Offering classic services in a cool, throw-back atmosphere, finding the right barber shop can be an anxiety-inducing ordeal for a dude looking for a tight fade. With hundreds of establishments to choose from, here are some of our favorite shops that deliver solid cuts, good conversation, cool ambiance, and in some cases, a nice, cold beer. 1 - Mister Brown's Barber Shop A return to the classic gentlemen's parlor, Mister Brown's (in North Park) caters to the modern man by providing high quality services, products and the ultimate social experience - in other words, beer and a pool table. 2 - Lefty's Barbershop A traditional men's barbershop with two locations in Pacific Beach, Lefty's offers luxurious hot towel razor shaves and gentleman's haircuts at affordable prices. 3 - Capitol Barbershop Classic barber shop in Normal Heights: two old school barber chairs, laid back atmosphere, and great service. 4 - OB Barbershop Conveniently located in the heart of Ocean Beach, the OB Barbershop is owned and operated by Darin Wright, a local barber and surfer. Watch a surf video and relax while Darin cleans you up with a detailed haircut and straight razor shave. 5 - Barber Side Established in 2007 as a private gentlemen's barbershop catering to men only, Barber Side opened to the public and moved to a larger location on Adams Ave in 2009. The shop has a tendency to get packed, so give yourself a good amount of time to hang. 6 - Pappy's Barber Shop Located inside a tattoo shop (Propaganda Tattoo) in the College Area, Pappy's Barber Shop finishes each awesome haircut with a hot lather, straight razor neck shave and a splash of Bay Rum for that extra fresh feeling. 7 - Floyd's 99 Barbershop With multiple locations in San Diego, Floyd's 99 barber shop is a barbershop for men and women. More of a rock-n-roll salon than a traditional chop shop, Floyd's barbers, hairdressers, and stylists provide quick and professional haircuts, colors, & shaves. East Village: 899 Market St. (619) 546-6860 Hillcrest: 407 W. Washington St. (619) 220-4970 Mission Valley: 5658 Mission Center Drive. Nice clean shop, awesome artwork, and excellent service for a tattoo and/or cut&shave. 9 - Vince's Barber Shop A traditional barbershop experience in Little Italy complete with shampoo, shave, a cold beer, and Playboys in the magazine rack. Sit back, relax and enjoying the scenery on India St. 10 - Normal Heights Barbershop A quaint shop on the corner of Mansfield and Adams, Normal Heights Barbershop offers a clean environment, friendly staff, and great products. As soon as you walk in, you are welcomed by friendly barbers, a cold beer, and good tunes. 11 - Dinks Barbershop Great barber shop, good vibe, perfect neighborhood feel. Great with kids, the shop is clean, fun, and professional. Copyright © 2016, DiscoverSD
