Local musician suffers stroke, needs help

On March 3rd, Chris Lewis, guitarist/backing vocalist for San Diego-based bands Fenix TX (originally from Houston, Texas) and Denver Harbor, set up a gofundme for his bandmate and friend, Will Salazar.

Recovering locally from a concussion and a “mid-brain stroke”, Salazar, the aforementioned bands’ lead singer/guitarist, is suffering from a loss of motor skills and equilibrium, and binocular diplopia (double vision in both eyes).

As scary as that sounds, he is in good spirits, stable condition, and a full recovery is expected (per a statement on Fenix TX’s facebook page).

Following cancelled shows and commitments, the band is asking for donations to help with Salazar’s hospital, medical and recovery bills:

As written by Lewis, “On behalf of Will and his family, I am asking for donations so that we can help take the worry of money off his mind so he can focus on his recovery. Donations in any amount, including prayers, good vibes, healing thoughts and spreading the word, will be greatly appreciated.”

Get well, Will.
