Republican Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher isn’t just running for mayor of San Diego-he’s rolling. During his ?rst term in the California State Legislature, he helped get 21 pieces of legislation signed into law (including bills relating to job creation, health care and public safety) and now aims to break local-government gridlock. And, having devoted a decade to U.S. Marine Corps service encompassing counter-intelligence and counter-terrorism in Iraq and the Horn of Africa, the 34-year-old decorated veteran believes he has the mettle to do it. “San Diego means everything to me,” says Fletcher, an avid mountain biker and surfer residing in University City with wife Mindy and sons Zach and Caleb. “It’s where I will live the rest of my life.”
