Coming to a Head
Thr3e Punk Ales Brewing Company
San Diego’s South Bay has been slower than most local regions to embrace craft beer. But suds are starting to sink in, and having this Santee transplant hammering down stakes along downtown Chula Vista’s main-drag should help accelerate the #southbayuprising beer movement. This rock-inspired brewery and tasting room is being installed in a two-story former menswear store that will offer plenty of room for beer indoctrination and appreciation.

Until recently, tasting the full array of Ramona-based ChuckAlek Independent Brewers required trekking to Ramona. Now, however, the artisanal marrieds behind this brewing outfit specializing in esoteric and historically significant beer-styles recently opened an 80-seat, umbrella-shaded outdoor sampling space in suds-saturated North Park, next to the neighborhood’s nonprofit Art Produce and fruit-and-seafood bar, Tostadas.
