“Top Gun” party coming to The Lafayette Hotel

Did you know that part of “Top Gun” was filmed at The Layfayette Hotel in San Diego? Yep, 30 years ago, Tom Cruise, aka Maverick, serenaded Charlie with the song “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” in the Mississipi Ballroom at the Lafayette.

Pull out your aviators and head over for a party at the hotel to honor the epic ‘80s classic on Friday, May 13. The iconic room will be transformed into a karaoke and DJ event that is free to attend from 10 p.m. to midnight. Enter the karaoke contest to win prizes like a complimentary stay at the hotel, a three-month swim club membership or a Lafayette swag bag.

Meanwhile, the hotel’s pool will be offering more fun for Goose, Iceman and Maverick fans to rejoice in. For a $20 daytime entry fee, event-goers can enjoy a DJ set by Goose^Mavrk from 2 to 7 p.m. while taking a dip in the famous pool.

Last but not least, the film screening will take place poolside as well from 8 to 10 p.m. and is free to attend.
