Hyatt Regency La Jolla debuts new restaurant & renovations

Share

As the tourists begin to leave San Diego and head back to work and school routines, us locals begin to kick back and embrace “second summer,” the second wave of warmth paired with quieter streets and beaches.

To best enjoy the perks and places that those visitors inhabited during the few golden months, a staycation is in order.

Hyatt Regency La Jolla, located in the UTC La Jolla neighborhood close to the UC San Diego campus, is brimming with luxury amenities and state-of-the-art features for the ultimate staycation destination. The hotel recently underwent a $12 million room renovation and is set to debut a brand new restaurant named DRIFT eat + drink on Monday.

Although the hotel is just a quick drive to downtown La Jolla and La Jolla Shores beach, it boasts its own junior Olympic-sized pool if guests are interested in spending the day near water. Plush cabanas line the pool, as well as backyard games such as cornhole and foosball. In the evenings, guests can roast s’mores by the fire pits for dessert and catch a flick on the projector screen.

The rooms in Hyatt Regency La Jolla, which served as the main focus of the recent renovation, received top-to-bottom improvements including new chairs, ottomans and furnishings, plus glass mosaic tiles and white porcelain sinks.

Food-wise, DRIFT eat + drink - located on the HYATT property - will open on Monday, Sept. 26 to the public. Indoor and outdoor seating welcomes guests to the coastal-inspired space. Baja-inspired California cuisine will seek to remain clean and healthy, and feature a selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options. A craft beer program and craft cocktails top off the offerings.

The entire hotel property - which includes 417 guestrooms, indoor and outdoor function space, the swimming pool and the newly-opened DRIFT eat + drink restaurant - takes over 11 acres of San Diego. The hotel is minutes from the famous Birch Aquarium & Museum and the La Jolla Playhouse, as well as the downtown La Jolla art galleries, shopping, dining and museums.
