The Sweetwater Valley Little League won its opening game of the Little League World Series Friday, beating the Great Lakes team from Bowling Green, Kentucky, 14-2.

The Bonita/Chula Vista champs play again tonight, Monday, in their first elimination game.

In the meantime, they have a huge fan in former San Diegan/Padres first baseman (and current Dodgers player), Adrian Gonzalez.

In a Twitter exchange with the Chargers, Gonzalez confirmed that he once played for Sweetwater Valley Little League, and he was behind the team.

The former Padres All-Star tweeted encouragement to the young ballers, saying “Do it guys! Keep swinging those bats.”
