Andaz music series launches downtown

Andaz San Diego is excited to partner with Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Curtis Taylor to launch the Andaz Music Series.

One of the Andaz hotel brand’s core values is bringing local culture into the hotel to reflect the neighborhood.

“We are excited to incorporate local musicians into Andaz and create great events for people to enjoy on Thursday nights,” said Chris Wingerberg, the San Diego hotel’s director of sales and events.

The series allows locals and guests alike to enjoy a night of free live music at the boutique hotel located in downtown San Diego.

The series began July 16 and continues weekly through Thursday, Aug. 20, with the Curtis Taylor Quartet serving as the grand finale.

The series is being curated by Taylor and will showcase local artists who bring a variety of styles ranging from jazz and soul to pop and beyond.

The schedule of performers for the Thursday series will run as follows:

  • July 23: Amanda Portela Duo
  • July 30: Daneen Wilburn Duo
  • Aug. 6: Rebecca Jade Duo
  • Aug. 13: Steph Johnson Duo
  • Aug. 20: Curtis Taylor Quartet

Each night of the series is designed to offer a different musical experience.

Music begins at 6 p.m. each night and runs until 9 p.m. at Andaz Bar inside Andaz San Diego at 600 F St.

Those who stop in to listen can also take advantage of happy hour specials on beverages and select food items.

Happy hour runs from 5-8 p.m. and includes $7 cocktails, a dollar off draft beers and 50 percent off house wines, select small plates and pizzas

Wingerberg said this is the first time the series is being offered, and the hotel will continue to partner with local artists and cultural insiders to bring unique experiences to Andaz.

Attendance for the first concert in the series on July 16 kept the Andaz Bar busy, and based on how the remaining concerts in the series go, Wingerberg said the hotel may plan another music series in the future.

In addition to the Andaz Bar, Andaz San Diego offers RoofTop600 restaurant and lounge, with one of the best rooftop views in the city. The restaurant serves breakfast and lunch daily, has a popular weekend brunch and offers fresh street tacos from 2-4 p.m. Sundays.

On Friday and Saturday nights, RoofTop600 is converted to an open air lounge with live DJs, dancing and bottle service until 1:30 a.m.
