10 sweatiest cities in the U.S.A.
As we gear up for the big Fourth of July weekend, the makers of Honeywell Fans, in partnership with a team of scientists at environmental consulting company Environmental Health & Engineering, have come up with a list of the 10 sweatiest cities in the country. Wait... San Diego made the list?!?
Reviewing data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association’s National Climatic Data Center and the U.S. Census Bureau, scientists have revealed the names of cities that have a unique ability to trap heat in the summer months based on average temperature, humidity, population and wind speed.
“Geographic location has a major influence on temperatures, but so does infrastructure like residential buildings or heavy industry, which can trap heat or contribute to heat output,” said Dr. Ted Myatt, ScD, Environmental Health & Engineering.
Consensus: Florida is darn clammy -- but we knew that already. And (maybe) San Diego isn’t as perfect after all.
