Museums, other sites offer discount admission during Museum Month in February

More than 60 museums and other popular San Diego destinations will offer half-price admission during San Diego Museum Month.

The program by the San Diego Museum Council runs through February. This is the program’s 34th year and will be the largest yet, said the council. An estimated 100,000 people participated in Museum Month in February 2022.

Free Museum Month passes will be available starting Thursday at more than 75 public libraries countywide. The passes will allow residents and visitors to obtain special half-off admission at San Diego County’s wide range of museums, historical sites, gardens, aquariums and other cultural attractions.

That includes sites such as the San Diego Air & Space Museum, Fleet Science Center, Birch Aquarium at Scripps, Maritime Museum of San Diego and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park, as well as places such as the Barona Cultural Center & Museum, Comic-Con Museum, the Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center, the Living Coast Discovery Center, the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art, the Women’s Museum of California and the Museum of Us.

“Museum Month is all about getting out and exploring everything that San Diego has to offer,” said Bob Lehman, executive director of the San Diego Museum Council, in a statement. “Whether you’re a local or a visitor, you’ll always find something new each year — from a new exhibition to a hidden neighborhood gem, as well as fun ideas for family day-trips or date-night destinations.”

Each Museum Month pass can be used for up to four half-priced admissions at any participating museum. (Fees may apply for special exhibitions and events at some museums and locations.) Guests can use their Museum Month pass to visit as many places as they would like during February.

Passes will be available from library branches managed by the San Diego County and San Diego city systems, as well as the library systems in Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Coronado, Escondido, National City and Oceanside.
