Chef returns to his La Jolla roots
Chef and caterer Giuseppe Ciuffa opens Candor in the same La Jolla space that housed his first restaurant

Chef, caterer and restaurateur Giuseppe Ciuffa on Wednesday launched his latest venture, Candor by Giuseppe, in the La Jolla site of his first restaurant, Come on In! Cafe.
A native of Italy, Ciuffa is the owner of Giuseppe Restaurants & Fine Catering and Caroline’s Seaside Cafe and was one of the founding chef-owners of the East Village’s well-regarded, but too short lived, Bottega Americano.
The name Candor represents honest and straightforward cooking to Ciuffa and his wide-ranging menu includes everything from seasonal roasted market vegetables to Maine lobster grilled cheese, herb-stuffed whole loup de mer, and of course, several pasta options.
A wine bar features a global wine list of 50-plus bottles, with an emphasis on producers from Italy, France and Spain.
Candor serves lunch, dinner and happy hour daily, plus brunch on Saturday and Sunday.
