Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 12. Here’s a list — although not a complete one — of San Diego restaurants ready to roll out the red carpet for Mom. Reservations are essential. (All menus will be served on Sunday, unless otherwise noted.)


The Oceanaire has crafted a special Mother’s Day drink, The Sugar Bear ($16), made with Aperol, Grand Marnier, Monin Peach Syrup, Chandon Rosé and a Sugarfina Bubbly Bear. Brunch will also be served starting at 11 a.m. 400 J St., San Diego.

Brunch buffet

Bahia Resort Hotel offers moms breathtaking views of Mission Bay, live piano entertainment and a complimentary bay cruise aboard a sternwheeler, in addition to a chef made-to-order omelet station, a top sirloin and honey-glazed ham carving station, and a fully stocked seafood station and decadent desserts. 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. 998 W. Death by Tequila‘s Baja-style brunch menu features farm-fresh dishes like smoked salmon; huevos rancheros; and eggs “Benedicto,” made with English muffins topped with country ham, slow-poached eggs and hollandaise and served with home fries. Jeune et Jolie is a bruncher’s vintage-inspired paradise with its soft velvet booths and lacy curtains, a fitting backdrop for mom and her entourage. Brunch isn’t far behind with dishes like sausage and egg panini or the cast-iron chile frittata. Cantania is the place to take moms who want to feast and fete on authentic Italian coastal cuisine like fresh, locally sourced seafood and fish or a variety of eclectic wood-fired pizzas. Campfire celebrates motherhood with a menu fitting for moms who love the great outdoors. The lamb breakfast sandwich with egg and gravy is served between two halves of a chive biscuit, and the steak and eggs comes with Thai Bird hot sauce and toast.
