San Diego celebrates National Burger Month

Notorious Burgers is offering two promotions throughout May. Bring a friend and buy one craft burger and get the other for 50-percent off. From 2 to 4:30 p.m., guests can order a $5 Whitey (normally $12), made with beef, American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce, red onions, local tomatoes, pickles, Notorious sauce, all on a toasted house bun. Kairoa Brewing Company in University Heights will pair your pint of New Zealand-inspired brew with the Kiwi Burger ($17.50), topped with beet relish, tomato chutney, cheddar cheese, shredded lettuce, mayonnaise, and topped with a fried egg. Madison on Park in University Heights offers its Grass-Fed Burger ($15.50), a half-pound Angus beef patty topped with aged white cheddar, pickled shallots and mustard frills, on a toasted brioche bun.
