JRDN welcomes Napa’s Groth winery to Pacific Beach

Share

Groth on the beach may sound like a captivating cocktail, but it’s really the tantalizing combination of a prestige Napa Valley winery with one San Diego’s loveliest oceanside restaurant settings.

On Tuesday, May 14, JRDN chef David Warner welcomes the winemakers at Groth Vineyards & Winery for a four-course pairing dinner. The feast features two cabernet sauvignons, the varietal that put Groth on the map — its 1985 reserve cab was the first California wine to earn critic Robert Parker’s coveted, perfect 100-point score.

Dinner starts with grilled spot prawns paired with the 2018 sauvignon blanc, followed by a 2014 chardonnay with rabbit and an apple-chive emulsion. The 2014 cabernet and 2014 reserve cab will be served with lamb porchetta with wild mushrooms, as well as the final course of cheese and dessert bonbons. The picture-perfect Pacific view is included.

Groth Wine Dinner at JRDN: 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. JRDN, at TOWER23 Hotel, 723 Felspar St., Pacific Beach. $100, plus tax and tip. Seating is limited to 28 people. (858) 270-2323. t23hotel.com/play/events/groth-wine-dinner
