Babycakes is back in Hillcrest, baby!
Hillcrest’s small business sweetheart returns its bakery to the neighborhood on Saturday.
“Save the date for something sweet!”
Those are the words gracing the grand opening announcement of Babycakes, a beloved local bakery shop that specializes in celebration and wedding cakes, along with decorative cupcakes.
While owner Christopher Stavros originally opened his dessert shop in Hillcrest in 2008, Babycakes relocated to Imperial Beach last year to “regroup and refocus” the business. But now, Babycakes has returned to its home neighborhood.
While the Hillcrest bakery is now open, the official grand opening will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14. Babycakes invites you to visit its new storefront, located on the corner of Fourth and Robinson avenues.
According to the Babycakes Grand Opening event page, “We missed Hillcrest so much we had to come back because Hillcrest is Home. Babycakes was born in Hillcrest and has been a destination landmark and tourist attraction for over a decade in the neighborhood. Chris Stavros and his team are ready to serve the gayborhood.”
At 10:30 a.m., there will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony with local political leaders Toni Atkins, Katharine Faulconer, Nathan Fletcher, Lorena Gonzales, and Chris Ward. There will also be giveaways, prizes, and of course — sweet treats.
