Go: Guadalupe Brewery Tap House

Know: The four-year-old Carlsbad brewery opened this Vista outpost in April. The warm, airy interior seats 49 now, and owners Lisa and Raul Deju plan to add outdoor patio seating soon.

Why it’s so: Several Guadalupe beers contain ingredients — such as peppercorn and honey — rooted in the brewery and brewer’s heritage. The business started in Baja California’s Valle de Guadalupe; Raul Deju grew up in Mazatlán and Mexico City.

Pro: A favorite beer here is Drunk Elvis (12.3 percent alcohol by volume), a groovy peanut butter, banana and honey stout. El Vainillo (5.5 percent alcohol by volume) is the best-seller, a vanilla cream ale with the accent on vanilla.
