Border X Brewing launches Mujeres Brew Club

Go: Mujeres Brew Club at Border X Brewing

Know: “Women that typically don’t drink IPAs or other beers, for some reason they enjoy our beers,” said Carmen Favela, Border X’s event manager. “We’ve been keeping women in mind and wanted to create a space for females.”

Grow: The first Monday of each month, the Mujeres will receive a beer education. Esthela Davila, co-host of the Indie Beer Show podcast, will lead sessions on beer history (May 6); brewing ingredients and process (June 3); beer statistics (July 1); beer styles (Aug. 5); tasting tips (Sept. 2); and beer glassware (Oct. 7).

Going pro: “As a group,” Favela said, “we are going to do a collaboration beer with Border X, and launch that during San Diego Beer Week.”

Peter Rowe

Peter joined The San Diego Union-Tribune in 1984. A native Californian who grew up in Encinitas, Rowe is a graduate of UC Berkeley and Northwestern University. He is past president of the National Society of Newspaper Columnists and a former Fulbright scholar.
