You & Yours Distilling Co. brings food to the table
This weekend, cocktail lovers can cheers to southern-influenced savory bites at You & Yours Distilling Co.
The East Village distillery and tasting room, which opened in 2017, is manned by San Diego transplant and Texas native Laura Johnson. On Friday, May 10, Johnson will unveil You & Yours’ latest endeavor — a food menu inspired by her southern upbringing.
When creating the menu, she enlisted the help of chef Brian Redzikowski of Little Italy’s restaurant and bar Kettner Exchange to curate fare that satisfies the palate of her San Diego customers. Redzikowski served as the consultant during the process. Additionally, the new kitchen will operate under the direction of chef Cecilia Valencia, who previously worked at Kettner Exchange.
The result? “Somewhat southern-inspired small plates” with a San Diego twist. Dishes include a ham and biscuit plate, arugula salad, carrot tartare, patatas bravas, spicy salmon poke, crispy eggplant stack, broken shrimp and grits, fried chicken and “Taco Bell” egg roll.
All items offer a creative cocktail suggestion, such as Passion of the Dill for carrot tartare or Little Bunny Foo Foo for fried chicken. Plus, one dessert offering — Worms in Dirt — features Y&Y Summer Citrus Vodka gummy worms.
The kitchen will be open during regular tasting room hours, Wednesday through Sunday.
