At annual Del Mar cake show, it’s all about skills and sugar
It’s a chance for bakers and confectioners to get out of the kitchen and share space and ideas with other sugar enthusiasts as the annual San Diego “Confections for a Cause” Cake Show. Local bakers, professional pastry chefs, amateur decorators and people who just love looking at intricate sugar sculptures can spend three days in classes and workshops learning about techniques and tricks for all skill levels. Plus, there’s a cake design competition, decorating demonstrations, and vendor booths. (A percentage of the proceeds benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego.)
