San Diego, here are 4 new brunch menus worth waiting in line for
There are two things San Diegans will line up for on the weekends: beach parking and brunch. But with the way brunch menus are proliferating around town, mimosas are clearly shining brighter than the midday sun. Here’s a sampling:
STK
The just-opened luxe steakhouse STK recently launched weekend day-drinking-and-eating, featuring the playful Captain Crunch French Toast (with tart cherry compote, bourbon maple syrup and Tahitian vanilla whipped cream) and Cold Brewchata (with Rumchata, Bailey’s Irish Cream, topped with espresso). 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. STK, at the Andaz San Diego, 600 F St., downtown San Diego. (619) 354-5988. togrp.com/venue/stk-san-diego
Amici’s Ristobar
The newly rebranded Amici’s Ristobar also recently began serving brunch items such as berry-brioche French toast, brunch pizza and egg-topped avocado toast. The Dolce Benedict has either prosciutto or smoked salmon, with spinach, ricotta, poached egg and hollandaise. 10 a.m to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sundays. Amici’s Ristobar, Pacific Highlands Ranch, 5980 Village Way, Carmel Valley. (858) 847-2740. amicisristobar.com
Herb & Wood
A few months back, Brian Malarkey’s acclaimed Herb & Wood added brunch, with elevated dishes likes the Dutch Baby Soufflé Pancakes with huckleberries, lemon curd and vanilla Chantilly, and Hamachi Croque Madam with brioche, sunny side-up quail eggs and preserved lemon beurre blanc. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays. Herb & Wood, 2210 Kettner Blvd., Little Italy. (619) 955-8495. herbandwood.com
Patio on Lamont
And if you don’t want to compete with the weekend crowds at P.B.’s Patio on Lamont, the restaurant also serves a full brunch menu (chilaquiles! Nutella French toast!) throughout the week, Monday through Friday, minus just the bottomless mimosas. Your weekends are now officially free to spend at the beach. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., seven days a week. The Patio on Lamont, 4445 Lamont St., Pacific Beach. (858) 412- 4648 www.thepatioonlamont.com
