Taco Fights return to The Blind Burro for round 5

It’s time once again to name the champion of San Diego tacos. Starting Feb. 2 and continuing every Thursday in February chefs will go head-to-head in a cooking challenge where guests in attendance get to taste the tacos and help crown the winner.

Taco Fights will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays downtown at The Blind Burro. There will be three different taco packages available ranging from $9-28. The basic Taco Fight Taco Plate ($9) includes just the tacos of the night. The Caballero Package ($16) includes Taco Fight tacos, plus ceviche or small guacamole and salsa flight. The Gran Jefe Package ($28) includes Taco Fight tacos, small nachos and a Ring of Fire cocktail.

Drink specials during the Thursday events include $15 Ring of Fire, $7 Espolón Cadillac margaritas, $7 red or white sangria, $5 El Silencio mezcal shots and $4 La Buena Cervezas.

Feb. 2: Chef Miguel Arreguin of Coasterra (WINNER and a last minute chef swap for Simon Dolinky) vs. Chef Julian Peres of Knotty Barrel

Feb. 9: Chef Kevin Templeton of Barleymash (WINNER) vs. Chef Arnold Brown of Harvest

Feb. 16: Chef Lety Gonzalez of Uptown Tavern vs. Chef Chris Gerwig of Searsucker

Feb. 23 finale: The final championship round will be between the winning chef from each week.
