Like football and eating masterfully-made BBQ? Come out to the sixth-annual Spring Valley Tailgate and BBQ Festival returning on Sunday, Oct. 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fun, outdoor festival doubles as a fundraiser to support local youth sports programs.
The event will be hosted by Cali Comfort Restaurants & Sports Bar, known locally for their outstanding BBQ. Come out to their restaurant and explore the surrounding streets that will be turned into a full-on BBQ cook-off competition.
Thirty teams will be competing in the barbecue battle, in which The Grand Champion of BBQ will win $500. The hand-crafted food will be judged by varying categories, including: tri-tip, chicken, pork ribs and carne asada. At 1 p.m., there will be a blind-tasting to determine the winner.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., event-goers can try the tasty specialties made by each team for $2 per 2-ounce sample portion.
The true aim of the tailgating festival is to raise money for the underprivileged youth of Spring Valley who cannot afford to participate in sports on their own. They also hope to help strengthen the neighborhood by promoting a strong sense of team work, pride and community support.
The funds raised during the tastings will go directly towards the selected local youth sport teams beneficiaries.
There will be live music, games and activities for all-ages during the duration of the family-friendly event. Attendees can also enter a raffle to win free NFL tickets.
Come hungry and ready to contribute to an important Spring Valley cause, all while watching the Chargers vs. Packers game!
Admission to the event is free.
