Meatless Monday: Warm lentil salad from Herb & Wood

The warm lentil salad from Herb & Wood (Liz Bowen)

What is it? Warm lentil salad

Where’s it from? Herb & Wood

What’s in it? Warm lentils with goat yogurt, tahini, pomegranate and speckled lettuce pieces.

How much will it cost me? $9.62

Why we love it? Warm, winter veggies are just the ticket for the surprisingly cold and rainy winter we are experiencing this year in San Diego. When you’re wanting a healthy, plant-based dish that will still satisfy your hunger pangs, we recommend trying the warm lentil salad over at Herb & Wood. Its base is hearty, black lentils mixed with crunchy pomegranate seeds. It is accompanied with a delicious goat yogurt that brings some creaminess to the warm lentils, as does the addition of tahini dressing. We adore this chewy, crunchy and savory reworked “salad” that is filling and not what you may expect from the typically green affair (no offense to kale.)

Location: Herb & Wood, 2210 Kettner Blvd., Little Italy.
