Cannonball is back, baby!
Back in 2013, Cannonball opened atop Wavehouse in Mission Beach with unbeatable ocean views and sushi rolls of delicious proportions.
The restaurant then closed briefly for renovation, but is now ready to debut some of its new features including a super-swanky glass-enclosed sushi cube and fresh lunch and dinner menus with Pacific Rim-influenced dishes on April 1.
The same brains behind Draft South Mission Beach and Tower23 (Eat.Drink.Sleep.) have been busy prepping this largest oceanfront rooftop bar and restaurant just in time for the spring and summer crowds. The revamped space features three distinct dining areas: A bar/lounge, a restaurant and a glass sushi cube overlooking the ocean with a traditional sushi bar.
The modernistic sushi cube will pair unbeatable views with innovative rolls from sushi chef Hugo Arreguin. Guests can order a Volcano roll with smoked salmon and crab topped with spicy scallops or a Bellyflop roll with crab, cucumber, topped with ahi poke and served on a lemon ring. To complement the cuisine, Cannonball will feature Japanese beers, sake and beachy craft cocktails.
Outside of the cube, Executive Chef Brad Wise has crafted a menu of small, sharable pates like chicken wings in teriyaki sauce, plancha skewers with lemongrass chicken and Brussel sprouts with beef tongue to be enjoyed among friends under the San Diego sun.
Cannonball will be open for lunch and dinner starting at 11 a.m. daily. 3105 Ocean Front Walk, Mission Beach. (858) 228-9304 or cannonballsd.com
