From downtown to Encinitas and everywhere in between, here are the latest restaurants and bars to open around San Diego County.

Amici’s Ristobar

Carmel Valley

In mid-June, the former Dolce at the Highlands restaurant in Carmel Valley reopened with a new name and menu. Friends (amici in Italian) of former owner Tony Smith, who died unexpectedly last fall at age 57, bought the upscale Italian restaurant from Smith’s widow and refreshed it with a new name, less-formal décor and a lower-priced, more family-friendly menu. Chef Rhoelle Gabriel’s new menu focuses on shareable plates inspired by the cuisine of Southern Italy, including eggplant parmigiana in a jar. There’s also a new children’s menu. It’s open for lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Read more about the restaurant here.
