Bacon Week: Southern Rise cocktail
Two things are on the lips of culinary and drink-minded San Diegans these days: mezcal and “What is that Richard Blais up to next?” Head down to Juniper and Ivy for the scoop on his latest project, while sipping on the restaurant’s tribute to Bacon Day, the Southern Rise. From mixologist Eric Johnson, this inventive cocktail uses bacon-infused mezcal, Sortilege Maple (a liqueur blend of Canadian rye whiskey and pure maple syrup), a spoonful of Firelit Coffee Liqueur (made with Ethiopian coffee in Napa), and a dash of mole bitters. It’s like a morning kick in the pants all day long. Note: this one is available only on Saturday for International Bacon Day, so don’t miss it!
