Yes, a Taco Fest is going down this weekend
It’s no secret that tourists flock to San Diego just for our tacos. We even have a dedicated day of the week to inhale them.
The San Diego Taco Fest at Waterfront Park will feature 20 of the region’s best taco-centric restaurants serving out some tasty creations. Take your pick from Lucha Libre, Lolita’s Mexican Food, Famoso Mexican Street Food, TJ Oyster Bar and many more. From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (yes, that’s a really long time to eat tacos), San Diegans will have the chance to taste all their favorite tacos side-by-side in one stop.
Baby got back after all those treats? The day will also include live music performances from the one-and-only Sir Mix-A-Lot. Yes, that Sir Mix-A-Lot. Todo Mundo, El Vez, Metalachi and 40oz to Freedom (a Sublime tribute act) will round out the day’s live concerts.
In between the grub and the grooves, make your way to the south end of the festival to catch live Lucha Libre wrestling matches from Tijuana’s own Baja Stars.
“San Diego is home to some of the best tacos on this planet but the hardest part is deciding where to eat,” said Taco Fest Organizer Tim Young in a press release. “We decided why not bring all the best restaurants all together to enjoy a day of fun filled with tacos, great beer and awesome music. There’s nothing better in my mind.”
This fest is 21-and-up only.
11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. Waterfront Park, 1600 Pacific Highway, downtown. $20 advance general admission; $25 at the door. VIP sold out. sdtacofest.com
