Yes, a San Diego Gourmet Pizza Fest is coming
In the last month, we’ve watched Isola Pizza Bar expand from its Little Italy location to a second outpost in La Jolla, a testament to the popularity and interest in truly satisfying gourmet pizza.
Well-constructed pizzas with the pizazz of Italy and the flavors of freshly-grown San Diego produce are all the rage right now, so it makes sense that a San Diego Gourmet Pizza Fest is slated to debut this year.
This 21-and-up outdoor festival rolls out the dough on Saturday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ingram Plaza in Liberty Station. Guests not only get to taste the ‘zas from more than 11 restaurants, but they also get to play judge and name the best gourmet pizza in San Diego County.
Attendees will have the power to vote for their favorite pizza while sipping down seven free beer tastings and dancing along to the music of live bands. People’s Choice Best Pizza and Best Gourmet Pizza in San Diego (chosen by a panel of pizza experts) will be awarded at the end of the event.
Restaurants participating in the festival include Red Oven Artisanal Pizza, URBN, Solare, Oggi’s, Mamma Mia, Isola Pizza Bar and more. Participating breweries include Mike Hess Brewing, Mission Brewery, 32 North Brewing Co., Helix Brewing Co., and more.
Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at sandiegopizzafest.com. Proceeds will be donated to Mesa College.
