Only a partial eclipse in S.D.? No worries, there’s still Eclipse Chocolate
Bummed that only a partial eclipse will be visible in San Diego Monday? Drown yourself in chocolate.
The South Park artisan sweet shop is keeping the dark event on the light side and holding an Umbral Brunch to mark the rare celestial occurrence.
“While it’s not visible in all its glory in sunny San Diego, we’re still over the moon about the upcoming solar eclipse! This is the first transcontinental solar eclipse in over a century, so we’re not about to miss it,” said Eclipse Chocolate’s brunch announcement.
Reservations can be made from 9-11 a.m. Monday “but the eclipse will peak at 58 percent coverage at 10:23 a.m. ... we will hold your table during the peak event so that you can step outside and enjoy the view,” Eclipse’s website said.
The menu, which costs $50, including tip and a pair of eclipse glasses, is appropriately solar-centric:
- Midnight Mimosa, or choice of other cocktail
- Choice of a main course and one side
- Pitch-black Flourless Chocolate Torte
- Extra-dark Box of 2 Truffles: Blackest Blueberry and Charcoal Salted Mocha
