Where to dine on New Year’s Eve
To usher in 2017, we’ve gathered some of the hottest restaurants around San Diego ideal for celebrating, dining and toasting to a new year. Here are our top picks.
The Cork & Craft - Rancho Bernardo
If you find yourself in North County for NYE, Cork & Craft has quite the spread. Their executive chef, Scott Cannon, will be providing a memorable five-course menu with starters of lobster bisque, caviar and smoke crème fraiche. Next, dine on entrées like the roasted quail and crusted wagyu sirloin. Make sure to save room for dessert, as well as drinks from Cork & Craft’s in-house brewery, Abnormal Beer Co.

Herb and Wood - North Little Italy
Herb and Wood, led by Chef Brian Malarkey, has been the talk of the town this year. Indulge with a three-course, prix fixe menu with picks like the seared scallops, braised beef belly, lobster crepe, whipped eggplant and smoked short rib gnocchi. Save room for desserts made just for ringing in the New Year, like the passion fruit Bavarian cream and brown butter pecan gelato. Plenty of champagne will also be available.

Urban Solace - North Park
Chef Matt Gordon of Urban Solace will be whipping up a three-course, prix fixe meal to celebrate the end of the year. Try tasty options like the lobster bisque, smoked salt-rubbed sturgeon, peppered beef tenderloin and the caramelized leek, apple, goat and brie tart. Conclude your meal on a sweet note with either the citrus scented cheesecake or a bittersweet chocolate mousse torte.

Pacifica Del Mar - Del Mar
Head to Del Mar to enjoy Chef David Burke’s foodie creations at Pacifica Del Mar. The restaurant features ocean views and will be serving a prix fixe menu. Snack on the chef’s choice amuse, lemongrass poached shrimp, duck confit spring rolls, seafood paella, duck prepared three ways and a wide selection of desserts. There will be two dinner sessions offered; one with a classic dinner and the second with a festive toast and DJ.

Juniper & Ivy - Little Italy
This hip eatery, nestled in Little Italy, will be serving up a four-course menu on New Year’s Eve featuring some of their most stand-out items of the year. Menu options include selections like the carne crudo asada, oysters and the wagyu short rib. Save room for special desserts like the almond joy.

Madison on Park - University Heights
Chef Mario Cassineri will be preparing a delicious, three-course menu featuring Maine lobster mac and cheese, double-cut sesame crusted pork chops and tuna tartare. The dinner will include a champagne toast and party favors. Besides celebrating the new year, Madison is also celebrating their one year anniversary with new barrel-aged cocktails hitting the drink menu.

Red Marlin - Mission Bay
The New Year’s Eve dinner menu at Red Marlin features a three-course menu with optional wine pairings. Enjoy a variety of dishes like caldo de mariscos, potato gnocchi and lobster, sesame crusted ahi tuna, grilled petite filet mignon and seared Maine scallops. Don’t forget to grab a slice of white angel food cake for dessert.
