On Wednesday, Jan. 18, Civico 1845 invites two Michelin-rated chefs to prepare a collaborative Italian feast. The father and son duo, Antonio and Luca Abbruzzino, will create dishes that highlight ingredients from their hometown in southern Italy.
The chefs will work side-by-side with Civico 1845’s chefs Alfonso Pisacane and Pietro Gallo, using a combination of ingredients imported from Italy and grown locally in San Diego.
The Abbruzzinos have received Michelin stars every year since 2014 for their Italian restaurant in Catanzaro, Calabria, and just last month, they opened a new restaurant in Milan. Civico 1845’s owners are originally from Calabria as well, and they have been longtime friends with the Abbruzzino family.
The collaboration will be ongoing in the restaurant, but the event on Jan. 18 will feature the new dishes on a multi-course menu that includes an appetizer, two pasta dishes, two entrees and two desserts.
