Javier Plascencia to guest-chef at Harrah’s Resort SoCal
Award-winning chef Javier Plascencia is taking over the kitchen at Harrah’s Resort Southern California for one weekend - Sept. 9 through 11 - at the resort’s Mexican restaurant, ‘ritas Cantina.
The event, dubbed Culture through Cuisine, is set to roll out prix-fixe meals for brunch, lunch and dinner. Guests to these thoughtfully-prepared feasts will experience Plascencia’s signature MedMex style, which has garnerned him widespread attention at his stand-out restaurants from Mexico to San Diego, including Mision 19 and Bracero Cocina.
Culture through Cuisine meals will be served at the following times:
• Friday, Sept. 9: Lunch 11 a.m./1 p.m. and dinner 5:30 p.m./7:30 p.m.
• Saturday, Sept. 10: Lunch 11 a.m./1 p.m. and dinner 5:30 p.m. /7:30 p.m
• Sunday, Sept. 11: Brunch 9 a.m. to noon
A preview of the menu shows crispy pork belly carnitas and chipotle roasted root vegetables for lunch, grilled octopus adobado and slow roasted culotte and short rib on the dinner menu and huevos rancheros and ceviche for brunch.
Ticket prices are $30 for lunch, $55 for dinner and $45 for brunch. They can be purchased at ticketmaster.com.
