Eat guac, be happy at the Guacamole Bowl

If an unlimited guacamole festival sounds like something you could get behind, look no further than the 13th annual Guacamole Bowl on Saturday, Feb. 20 to satisfy all of your avocado-based needs.

The Guacamole Bowl will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Balboa Park Club and will feature over 30 teams with around 180 individual competitors gunning for the title of top guac. There will be several different local sectors competing, including the law enforcement team and a realtors division, as well as an open-division that welcomes the public to enter.

The first prize winner of the Guacamole Bowl will receive the one, the only, Guacamole Cup. Other awards to be received include the people’s choice award, which allows each attendee one vote for their favorite guacamole. There will also be an award for the best decorated table, so make sure to get festive if you’re entering.

Last year’s winner was the San Diego Police Department Western Division also known as the “Hot Guac Cops” team.

The event will donate all of the proceeds to benefit the SPORTS for Exceptional Athletes, which aims to support local programs for athletes with developmental disabilities.

Admission to the Guacamole Bowl is $5, which gets you your own bag of tortilla chips and access to all the guacamole you can down throughout the day.
