Communal Coffee to add a South Park location

Share

The mural at Communal Coffee, which boasts “COFFEE + FLOWERS,” along with toasts and lattes, has popped up on Instagram feeds since it opened in North Park in the spring of 2016. With its success, attracting coffee connoisseurs and creatives with a modern bohemian aesthetic, craft coffee and gourmet bites it’s time to expand.

In March, Jen Byard, owner of the North Park café, is bringing the multi-faceted business and unique community to South Park.

The 2,000 square-foot lot, located on Fern Street, will harbor an intimate community-centric space for coffee, food and events. A vintage 1959 Shasta trailer, will be converted into the café’s fully functioning espresso bar and pastry shop.

Staying true to the North Park business, the South Park location will serve Bay Area roaster Sightglass Coffee alongside their signature latte and espresso drinks while also working with local pastry shops to provide gourmet bites — Nomad Donuts is currently set to provide bagels and donuts.

The new location will have seating scattered to fill the space with plans of hosting live performances, movie nights and community events throughout the year. The Communal Coffee South Park retail component gives guests the opportunity to purchase merchandise and coffee brewing equipment and accessories so they can take the café to their home.
