Coming to a Head

Collectives bringing together and playing off the strengths of multiple businesses are all the rage. And in San Diego, no retail-based collective would be complete without the inclusion of a beer-centric tenant. Moniker Group concurs and has tapped Miramar-based 32 North Brewing for that role at its upcoming Liberty Station group thing. Look for the brewery’s Landfall Berliner Weisse, Pennant Pale Ale and Nautical Mile IPA to be available in a tasting space adjacent to other artisanal edibles and quaffables, plus assorted wares from other local businesses.

Knotty Barrel has been a quality craft-beer intake option for downtown denizens and Petco Park-goers for years, but owner Ken Lovi and company are taking things to the next level, installing an on-site brewery. Rich Haley from sister co. bar-and-resto Ciro’s Pizza and Brewhouse will come over to help brew up a lineup of ales inspired by Old World European suds lore. Many of them will be of the low- to mid-alcohol variety, allowing guests to enjoy the diverse variety of flavors from a Belgian-style witbier, German-style Pilsner, British- style pale ale and Knotty’s take on an authentic London porter.
